Everyday Was A Struggle

Agnes*, 43, was a busy working mother. Although she gets enough rest at night, she was still so exhausted all the time. On some days, all she wanted to do was crawl back to bed within an hour of waking up. But that was not the only problem. Her weight gain also added to her misery.

However, Agnes struggled on and accepted her health as part of life’s twists and turns. It wasn’t long before Agnes reached her breaking point when she missed her niece’s wedding just because she was too weary to get out of bed! Only then, she realised something was truly wrong with her health.

After a visit to the clinic and a simple blood test , Agnes was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. She began to take medication and was surprised at how well she was starting to feel. She soon regained her energy and could be her active self again. She was delighted with her health transformation and wished she had gotten checked for hypothyroidism sooner.

Why your thyroid health matters

  • The thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped organ in the neck that produces thyroid hormones.1
  • Thyroid hormones are important for many bodily functions such as metabolism, brain development, breathing, heart and nervous system, body temperature, muscle strength, skin dryness, menstrual cycles, weight and cholesterol levels.1
  • Hypothyroidism develops when the thyroid gland is unable to produce sufficient thyroid hormones.1
  • Women are more likely to develop hypothyroidism compared with men.1
  • If untreated, it may lead to serious health conditions such as high blood cholesterol, heart disease, decreased memory and muscle weakness.2
